To answer Durbinite - Yes, tripod shot for sure. Had just gotten a new set of extension tubes (tube length of 68mm) to allow for some better macro work.
This was done outside in the sun. (a bit too strong, but ended up being a good effect for the shot)
I set my macro lens on max zoom (200mm in this case), and put the camera as far away as possible to optimize the focal area of sharpness - note that the f-stop was also very sharp at f/16.

this is a GREAT picture. do you have this set up on a tripod? do you remember what mm you were on? were you far away and zoomed in or close and zoomed out?
