Thanks, Melon, for your kind comments! I understand what you are saying but this was hand held, the whole thing would have been shaken if I had tried a longer exposure! I think it did poorly in the challenge because the image doesn't particularly say "train" to the voters. I do appreciate your input, though! Thanks! ~Sharon

There is something captivating about this shot for me. I like the concept of the lantern marking the end of a train, and the afterglow marking the end of the day. It's nice that the colors of the orange almost match. Smaller aperture, like f11 @ 1/4 sec, or f16 @ 1/2 sec would have improved focus on the trees in the BG, and made for a better challenge score.

I'm sure glad to chose from above rather than from below - would have been pretty dark. ;)

This is a most unusual shot and frankly don't think I've seen one quite like this.
