Thanks to all those that commented and voted on my image. I have had a tough few months and found it difficult to come up with even one image for the whole month. I appreciate the comments but had to say that I hate the word "snapshot". Yes it was a snapshot but then so are a huge percentage of the published photos in the world. That is what photography is about, seeing a moment and having the ability to capture it. This shot would not have been there if I had tried to set it up. I wish the voters would look at the entries from this perspective, just because it is not the best set-up, lit, shot with super sharp equipment and planned for weeks ahead, does not mean it is a bad photo. Sorry if this sounds like sour grapes, it isnt, I didnt expect more for the shot than it got so am happy with it, it is just sometimes the comments get to me because they aren't realistic and rub me up the wrong way. There is criticism and constructive criticism.

Sorry for the rant, I had to euthenase my 12 hour foal late last night and am not feeeling in a great place and have taken it out on you guys a bit. My apologies but I had to get it off my chest.

I was so happy to see this on the front page as I was born in Zimbabwe and lived a large part of my life in South Africa. If this is taken from Bloubos strand across the bay from Table Mountain it is where my father's ashes were scattered when he passed away in September last year. It is truly a beautiful area and he loved to sit on a bench with the view every Sunday and read the newspaper.

This is truly a beautiful photo well done.

This finished a few higher than mine but I think it deserves better, these shots arent easy to pull off so that they look so pleasing to the eye. I love it.

Thanks to everyone who commented and voted, and YES I am kicking myself in my own AZZ for the cropping mistake. That's what happens when you send in your entry at the last minute. Dont think it would have done much better with the cropping but I think I may have gained a few placings. This is my 8 month old Palomino foal playing in her first snow.

I love this view Karen, I think I have seen you shoot from this vantage point before, but the person in the wheelchair just strengthens it, especially considering that my husband is wheelchair bound and quadraplegic. Great choice for B&W too.

Thanks for your recent comments and adding to my favorites. I just wanted to say that this can happen so easily. A while back I entered this for a challenge and just by chance left the paint brush in the frame, not thinking that it would be considered a work of art!!!!!! If the paint brush wasnt there it would have been DQ'd without me even thinking of that rule. Heck I just put some paints on a piece of card and swished them around, who would think LOL. So I was lucky and the rule can be very subjective so just keep on truckin' these things happen.

Edit to add: I think the rule has got much more strict since I did this though so today it would probably be a DQ

My thanks to everyone for their votes and comments. It is a pity that the commenters didnt give me my final score or this would have done better than it did. I just wanted to say that I am not a huge PS person so this picture has very little processing other than brightness and contrast and a touch of saturation, so this is exactly what it looked like before the sun started coming above the horizon. I live in Indiana and it is flat flat flat so I was pleased that I had a sunrise where I could use the clouds for the impact rather than the horizon or silhouette. It was blowing very hard that morning too 40 mph winds so that is why you can see those whispy clouds. Just wanted to thank everyone for taking the time to comment and vote.
