Shall we dance?by PascalComment: Because you liked my "Abandoned Buildings" entry so much, I looked up your profile and saw this photo. Absolutely exquisite! I really like it. I've only been in the group for a few months, but am starting to enjoy it very much. It's challenging on a daily basis and keeps me wanting more and more from myself.
Just thought I'd share that I loved your "Shall we dance?" photo (of course, your other shots are very nice too).
Thanks again for the encouragement and I wish you luck on our next outing! :-)

Rockby gingerninjaComment: WOW! Stunningly beautiful shot. Well done! I'm a very conservative scorer & critic, so please don't take me giving this image a "9" the wrong way - I've only given out one "10" since I joined a number of months ago. The only (possibly) constructive comment I can make is that the light is so bright against the rock, that it might be detracting a little from the detail otherwise possible. I'm also curious as to where this shot was taken - my guess is somewhere near Cape Horn, Chile. It's a breathtaking shot - I'd love to visit there! Well done! |

Scissor Arsenelby jimsappComment: I LOVE this shot - nicely done! I have to wonder if you made this sculpture or ran across it on your themed hunt for "Rock, Paper, Scissors". I scored it an 8 because it is literally brain candy for the eyes. The only (possibly) constructive comments I have is that the whole image seems overly gray. I think you could spice it up even more with some different lighting and (perhaps) a different background. Please don't take it as criticism - I'm a VERY conservative critic & scorer (I've only given one "10" since I joined the group a number of months ago.). I really like this one - nice job! |

The Newsby H R VerryComment: I think this is a simple matter of taste for me, so please don't take it personally. I don't find the subject matter especially interesting or striking in any way - at least in the way it is currently presented. HOWEVER, I think it's a very nice shot - symmetrical, asymmetrical, balanced, decent lighting, and contains two of the three possible elements for this particular theme. You know, I almost think this content would be more appealing in a black & white or sepia toned image. It is so severe with the rock/marble and steel doors, that It looks like a death camp in the Middle East or the Sudan, and the person reading the newspaper in red pants seems very out of place against that background... Sorry. |

Feeding Frenzyby danderson107Comment: Interesting (if gruesome) concept, but it just didn't have anything "special" about it for me. The photo is not exceptionally clear or the content exceptionally presented - that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the concept or idea behind taking the shot; it just means that it didn't carry through like I think you hoped it would. The light source(s) seem odd - casting multiple shadows that detract from each other and the perspective of the cup is not very flattering to the subject. Sorry. |

Picnic Dinner Outside Our New Under-Construction Houseby cloudsmeComment: Nice photo of the family (and I realize that it shows rock & paper), but it didn't seem to have that indescribable special quality that makes some photos stand out from the rest. Is the focus of the photo your family or is it the theme for the competition? Also, there don't seem to be many emotions captured in the faces of your subjects. I'm sure I'm coming across as overly critical - and I don't mean to be - I'm just trying to explain to you why this photograph didn't really appeal to me. It's almost like you went back through the photos you had made recently and picked this one out because you liked it and it did have rock & paper in it - not because you were focusing on any particular agenda. Sorry. |

Scissorsby buddybuddy1226Comment: I like your idea - using the shadows & light to your advantage (and I think you did that well). The problem is the shot seems a bit blurry and forced (as if you had taken this from a much larger photo and cropped out everything else. It's too close to the scissors, taking away from the potentially nice shadow you had if it had been shown in full. Sorry to score you a 4 on this one, but if you're like me (and trust me, I've been in the same boat), it'll only make you try that much harder on the next one! :-)

Angels Rockby roadrunnerComment: I normally don't care for obviously "posed" shots, but this one is certainly an exception to that rule. Beautiful imagery and perfect lighting. It really cries out "innocence" against a cold, hard environment. Well done. |

Zen Gardenby dsa157Comment: I've only been in this group for a few months and I've never scored a photo as a perfect "10"... until this one. Outstanding job and a breathtakingly beautiful photograph. Well done & congratulations - I'll be extremely surprised if you don't win. :-) |

Brazos Crossingby TSaylorsComment: It's a beautiful photograph, but I don't see any paper, any scissors, or any rock... |
