Impressive!! I love the simple, symmetrical composition which focuses the eye on the twin lightning strikes. Great job capturing this.

You were lucky! Hope you bought a lottery ticket that day!

I really like the picture overall; good composition. However, I wish there was more color clarity and sharper focus on the orcas.

This is a great image; I really like the dramatic light and shadow.

However, I don't feel it fits the definition of abstract art particularly well (though better than many in this challenge!) -- to quote from abstract art on Wikipedia: "Abstract art uses a visual language of form, color and line to create a composition which exists independently of visual references to the world."

Congrats on the red!
Also, I disagree with the commenters who said that the DOF is too shallow. IMO, having the far side of the splash slightly out of focus is fine given that the nearer half of the splash is quite sharp. The near part keeps the viewer's eye, since it's brighter, in focus, and has a closer view of the most interesting details (the small round droplets around the outside of the ring).
I like your DOF, and given that you shot at f/16, I wouldn't have gone any smaller with the aperture either. Nicely done!

I like the bold color contrast of warm against cool colors, and the patterns of the dome are really visually interesting. Unfortunately, the nasty JPEG artifacts, which are particularly evident in the sky around the dome, detract from the image a lot. (Try saving at a higher JPEG quality setting next time! You have 150 KB to use, but this image is only about 50 KB in size.)

Awesome! I love everything about this image. And no, the background desat is great. It is kind of subtle, I didn't even realize it was desaturated at first, but it does a fantastic job of giving the foreground primary visual importance.
Congratulations on a stellar image!

Creative photograph! Nice simple composition with no distracting background elements. I wish his face and the phone were illuminated better though, his back and the near side of his head tend to take the viewer's eye away from what he is doing, and there is a near-total loss of detail due to the underexposure in his face. But still one the top images in the challenge.
