well, judging from the score and your comments i don't know how much there is to say about this. i think it's a darling photo and very well-done (for whatever you were using it for). the emotion and poses are perfect, as are the costuming. there's definitely a story here and it really draws you in.

the edited version you posted takes care of most of my nitpicks, so there's no need to mention them. overall, an excellent shot!

i think this is a good idea for the challenge. what killed you here is lighting.

because you're dividing the user's attention to two subjects, you needed to have two light sources that made each subject pop. like, for instance, if you had a boxing ring kind of feel, a spot on each can separated by some black space would have done it. if you were going for a head-to-head kind of thing, you could light it with one really tight light that showed parts of each can basically posed against each other.

in an image this dark, i don't think the reflections would have had any impact. it seemed like you were investing a lot in that effect when it really seems incidental.
