Having said that I don't particularily like the processing on the photo but that's a YMMV sort of thing, as in I just don't like the post processing style.

Still wow, yes, um, yeah.. street photography clearly can come with surprises.

Would you prefer it in color with some gaussian blur and noise ninja?

Yes, the graffiti is Banksy's work.

It was a banksy, but now it looks like this.. blotted

ive been planning to lynch a bride for several months now. I wanted to do it in the 9th ward. Banksy came along and gave me the perfect backdrop. I had no idea, until yesterday, that he left a piece in Alabama depicting a lynched KKK guy. As for my photos, I found this critique on a bansky collector forum...

"that blog is a lots of bloated art skool toss"

I guess I could take that as a compliment since I've never been to art school.

I dont think people in my area are too happy with the pic, either.

Huh, that is a sort of powerfully perceptive and an awesome way to view this. That might explain why I like it.

I did not really get to know the two of them until after the shoot. We talked for hours and hours. It might be why I like this shot. Maybe its the one image that comes the closest, quite by accident, to revealing a true reflection of who they really are deep down inside below the surface of their skin and socially perceived personalities, looks, etc. And if that is the case, then i was still able to capture this element before consciously knowing it was in them.

Hmmmmm. Ive been contemplating a theory lately. I thought I would need to get psychologically attuned to my subjects before the shoot in order for my images to capture such. But, perhaps I dont. Maybe it is only necessary to be attuned to my own psychological depths. If thats the case, then my theory is much easier to accomplish!

indeed, it was a note to self. Oh, and I deciphered the writing.

There's a strange force taking over my brain - not emotion - not feeling - a neurological impulse and its eating my head. Could it be i'm melting? I wish I may, I wish i might, to make some sense of this rude delight.

I agree about the film thing. I think we can get close with digital, but it requires just the right editing in photoshop. Ive noticed a trend with lightroom processing and the higher quality digital camera's. It seems like they are grainless to the degree of losing detail. Its that or people just dont give a shit about editing and only care about making things bold and colorful for trendy wedding photography of the day. Plus, batching through lightroom is just the easiest thing to do. On the other hand, there is no way I would stand in a darkroom and self print 1,000 wedding images.

I miss the darkroom. Im starting to long for the time and space to play with film and chemicals again.

Also, darkroom work requires just the right knowledge of timing for exposure, papers, chemicals etc to get the best film grain results.

Photo editing, be it film or digital is actually far trickier than people would like to believe. Maybe lightroom is an easy fix for today's busy professional...but, in my opinion, the difference stands when you blow those images up for print.

Excuse the babble..ive been pondering this thing lately.

strangely surreal. I like.

Want to spend two weeks living in Harlem with Alex and Lauren every couple of months? Im breeding ideas. ;) Nothing solid. You need to be reading the private blog to keep up. Too busy to type it all out.
