A high key image gone heavily contrasty. Her hair, eyes, clothing and shadows herald the movement into a new genre, perhaps. The hidden mysteries of her being contrast with the otherwise open portrayal. Engaging and moving.

The Eye In The Sky

A very strong, becoming contrast concoction, I find this even more fascinating as an abstract composition. The symmetry needs wresting from the overall scene, and it's well worth the effort.

The Dinning Hall

The light on the table and chairs, and the sparkle of the glassware, arise glowing from the softish shadows of the rest of the area. It's a sunlight smile inching the day along. The modesty makes this all the more appealing.

Take Flight

Seemingly simple. Aside from the hawk gracefully lifting up, it's neat how the rest of the contrast is among rather soft tones. The background is of gentle wheat, blue and an arc of white clouds. The main contrast lives in the fence, the whites and shadows. Whereas most images aiming for contrast can be heard through a bullhorn of stark juxtaposition, this is serene and therefore surprisingly effective.

Heatwave

As if made to order. The journey begins wide open at the dark and white patterned tiles, through the sharp architecture, the person with a cart striding towards the opening of a hidden street and out into the dark sky. Cunningly doing the bidding of the wizard behind the camera. The tiles do the heavy lifting. I want to see this movie.

Hmm, this was one of my top three images. I love the dreamy, sunlit ocean - while squinting - effect of a forest, atilt and disorienting.

Homecoming

Personal second favorite of the challenge. Beautiful golden foreground, with its fringe of modest plants. Then the wonderful reflection of trees that seem to stroll by, and their attendant blur. The fragility of them, against the sublime blue, is to weep over. The color harmonies and gentle composition are an expression of fine craft. Really, notwithstanding present chatter, beyond words.

Personal favorite of the challenge. Sumptuous grays, emergent form. The clouds could be waves, the mountains a sea dragon, or a dish of black cherry ice cream abounding in whipped cream. The orient in all its glory.
