Great shot. I am reminded of a jack-o-lantern the way your lighting is set up. The seeds add to the picture the way they are scattered in the foreground.

I don't see the background as grey but it is a little lighter than other backgrounds. It doesn't matter anyway in my opinion because I think the lighter color blends in and enhances the out of focus details and helps to draw the eye to the pencil point. This is a great macro and very imaginative. Good luck! shortredneck
