Posingby mariucaComment: I really like this and am giving it a 9. I'm a straight freak so I would have skewed slightly to adjust the horizontals. Since it's extended - well, even in Standard - I'd also have removed a bird or two or three where they merge. |

So Many Geese!by namComment: Originally posted by LevT: Amazing! Never saw anything like this! Where is it? |
Loess Bluffs NWR in the NW corner of Missouri. The snow geese migrate through late fall and early spring - spring (the birds think it's late February, I disagree) is the most impressive. It's not just a sight, it's an immersive experience. They had actually been at their peak about a week earlier than we were there this year because we'd had an unseasonably warm spell; when that happens, they don't hang around as long. But it's always worth going. |

Roxy's Café....by NikonJebComment: Love the colors, light, scene in righthand window. Hate the planter :( Reminds me of Edward Hopper and I'm a fan. Given the unfortunate planter, maybe I'd crop to just the one frame? Or a little beyond (to end of green wall) and clone out what's left of plant and planter. |

FIRESTONE - Where the Rubber Meets the Roadby namComment: Originally posted by Neat: Not sure why the whole photo is not in colour, not a big fan of select desaturation. The blown out part underneath the car is distracting also. My eyes keep veering there. I do like the motion on the wheel however. |
The photo isn't in color because I converted it to black and white; it was a black car and the road was basically black - the only hint of color was a bit of gold on the wheel rim - not sure what you mean by selective desaturation here. Unless you thought the "Firestone" lettering was on the car in the first place? I worked hard to find a font that I thought came as close as possible to that of the company's logo - I'd be pleased to think I was successful at that :)
I added the red Firestone to identify the product I was "advertising" and and the red border because I thought it gave the photo a more finished look for a billboard. I agree that the bright area under the car is distracting - the light was not good and this certainly isn't a great photo, but I wanted to play so I put it in :)
ETA: And now I see that the best place for the red FIRESTONE lettering would, in fact, have been right under the car - on the bright area that draws the eye!

Leave Litter in a Binby DistantColoursComment: Leave waste where? Assuming a billboard posted beside the highway, this message seems odd. The image is simple, the message easy enough to read and take in. Problem is, this is another that I don't quite "get". |

Wetland Conservationby vawendyComment: This one is excellent - jumps right out at me. But I would like the sponsor to be a bit more obtrusive. 8 |

For Future World Changersby SandyPComment: Another super design. This one is a bit more complicated in terms of text than some of my other top contenders, but the clean white on black message works. And I'm smitten as soon as I look at the young man - the loosened collar and askew tie are great. |

Welcome to Hawaii!by LevTComment: There's a lot more going on in the picture here than in other of my top scores, but the fact that the text is limited to a single, easy-to-read word that packs a wallop in terms of its emotional baggage makes it easy to take in quickly, and that was important for me. 9 |
