Stanley really needs to shine but unfortunatly the poor lighting makes this composition flat. There seems to be a single light source off to the left causing a harsh shadow to fall on Stanley's right half. Illuminating the subject's face in entirety will strengthen the visual appeal and impact. The teal green background just is not allowing this greyhound to pop off the page. The color is dull and flat in color contrast and thus it does not allow the subject to visually pop. Hmmm, mayhap a lightsoure behind the dog would create a halo effect sort of what Arnit did in his photo called Caught Up //www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=143446 . The photo has some strong bones but better lighting would really help it shine.

Great job! Have an extra chair? I went back and forth on how I wanted to score this one. Although it's pretty straight forward, not alot of fancy techniques showing through this one, I loved the clarity in it, the foreground has great use of color and technical merit. The distant part of the photo has great use of color. I originally was only giving this a 6 because it didn't compare with some of the 'fancier' shots out there in this challenge, but I'm raising my score, giving it a final 9 because there is something to be said for being straightforward, being simple, and meeting the challenge PERFECTLY. What some people failed to realize in this challenge, is that a water pic or a shoreline pic does not always make a beach theme. Your photo truly does that, in it's most simple and whimsical form.

Great pose. This is a family portrait using only hands - fascinating. Only complaint is your background. The shadow is a bit distracting.
