Yes, I Love You Mr Scaryby artistChanComment by PennyStreet: Your 5 ones were at least balanced by five tens!
I agree that the best way to improve is to study your own work but also to study others.
Take a concentrated look at photos that really appeal to you - things like exposure, color, composition, and then try and think what you could do to make your own shots better. (I also find commenting helps me because I'm forced to think).
Even the photographers who get the high scoring shots keep looking for ways to improve.
The other thing to keep in mind is that score isn't everything. People like different things and people vote in different manners. Concentrate on making what you do the best you can make it first. |

Yes, I Love You Mr Scaryby artistChanComment by bassbone: Saw you thread. '1's happen all the time, and you need to understand that many different people from very different backgrounds vote on challenges here.
Your photo appears to be a bit overexposed, its not completely sharp in focus on the face, and the blade of grass across the front is a bit distracting. Close up insect shots are very common on DPC these days and those entered need to have WOW to score well.
While I would not vote this a 1, I don't think it is one of the better images in the challenge and would likely have voted it a 3 or 4 for the reasons stated above. |
