Awesome location!, try a reflector for some fill light on this side of his face (even a piece of tin foil or white paper would work in a pinch

Beautiful shot! I love the pastel colors in the sky, and the yellow buildings contrast beautifully.
I also like how depth is created here. My eye starts out looking at the foremost building on the right, and then zooms to the back of the image on the left.
Unfortunately, the tree is a total eye sore for me, but a completely unavoidable subject as well.
