Comment by bassbone:
what a lovely visa - it seems to lack a bit of something - maybe a bit washed out or something

This has a wonderful compositional feel almost like seeing a fine painting. What makes it work is the opposing corner emphasis of the dark car in the lower right balancing the building in the upper left. Mathematically an uneven match but visually perfect. The lines leading back and forth across the street tie it all together with lots of detailed, especially vertical lines providing visual counterpoint.

P.S. Just noticed you do have another one in voting - good to see! (I can tell because it says you've entered five challenges but only four are showing on your profile page right now.)

Greetings from the Critique Club!

A lovely scene here and I can almost hear the water as it goes by. You did indeed get very good clarity and detail with your shot and the composition feels fairly well balanced to me. I wonder if you did try other compositions as well? One focused more on the rocks and water, then one focused more on the sky which includes the tops of the trees? I try to remember to do this, but usually forget (and really, we're not wasting film!) The light here is nice and soft, nothing seems over or underexposed. The shot does seem to be just a bit "flat"; all digital files from DSLRs require some bit of tweaking, and in this case I think a bit of curves and/or some additional contrast would not only help define the water a bit more, but also bring out that light on the trees and mist you're trying to emphasize here. It may be worth experimenting a bit - take it FAR beyond what you think is "natural" as far as contrast and saturation, for instance, then start pulling it back and see what you think.

I see you haven't entered many challenges - hope you'll enter a few more this year!

I like the mountains in the background. B&W works for this. Some more traffic would add some more interest to ths shot.
